Val Demings Holds Roundtable, Discusses Historic Infrastructure Bill with Small Business Leaders in Duval
JACKSONVILLE – Today, Rep. Val Demings traveled to her hometown of Jacksonville for a day of public and community events as she builds momentum and support in her run for the United States Senate.
This morning, Demings attended a roundtable discussion with Duval County small business leaders where she listened and learned from small business owners of all backgrounds and touted the benefits of the historic bipartisan infrastructure bill for small business growth, job creation, and opportunity in Duval County and across Florida.
Congresswoman Val Demings said, “Small businesses are the backbone of the Florida economy, and business owners here in Duval County and across Florida have been hit hard by the pandemic, and now they are struggling with rising costs. Small businesses need our support and investment now more than ever.
“That’s why Democrats and Republicans worked together to pass a historic, bipartisan infrastructure package that will deliver tens of thousands of good jobs and tens of billions of dollars for Florida. These investments will deliver both economic opportunity, with the creation of good new jobs, and economic relief, by lowering the cost of goods for small businesses and working families across Florida.
“But, we cannot forget that our state’s senior senator, Marco Rubio, fought this effort. He voted against this common-sense bipartisan infrastructure package. He voted against economic opportunity and relief.
“That’s why I’m in this race for U.S. Senate: I’m running to represent all communities in Florida, and I’m on a mission to deliver results that actually help working families put food on the table, stay safe in their neighborhoods, and build a better future for themselves and their children.”
