Chief Val Demings Statement on DACA Court Case
ORLANDO — Today, as the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals hears arguments regarding the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Val Demings released the following statement:
“I will always stand firmly with Dreamers, who arrived in our country as children, and today only want to build a better life for themselves and their families, and achieve the American Dream. Ending DACA would be devastating for millions who are contributing and beloved members of our communities — recipients are healthcare workers, teachers, small business owners, police officers. Politicians like Marco Rubio continue to lack the courage to stand with DACA recipients, offering hollow words and political games instead of real action. We are a nation of opportunity and hope, and I’ll always fight to create a permanent fix for Dreamers in the U.S. Senate.”
